PATENT IN TURKEY

Deris provides assistance and consulting on drafting, preparing, filing and prosecuting applications for patents/utility models in Turkey. Since Turkey has become a member of the EPC on November 1, 2000, Deris also manages provisional protection and validation of European Patents before the Turkish Patent Institute.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN IN TURKEY

Besides providing services for drafting, preparing, filing and consultation on the registration and enforceability of national industrial design rights, Deris also represents its clients for international design applications, as of the membership of Turkey to the Hague Agreement (Geneva text) on January 1, 2005.

TRADEMARK IN TURKEY

Deris provides services for drafting, preparing, filing within one to two business days and prosecuting of trademark applications in Turkey, follows administrative procedure management for securing registrations in TRN Cyprus and in other countries and furnishes consultation and management for the protection of copyright registration.

OTHER IP RIGHTS IN TURKEY

Deris assists its clients in providing consultation and developing business strategies for the protection of copyrights, domain names, protection of breeder’s rights on new plant varieties, integrated circuit topography and geographical indications before the administrative authorities such as Turkish Patent Institute, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

TPI will hold a MEETING FOR NEGOTIATION with Trademark and Patent Attorneys in order to negotiate the professional problems in the Turkish Patent Institute on 31 January 2012. Mrs. Ayşe Ünal Ersönmez will participate in the meeting for representing Deriş Patents and Trademarks Agency.

The Turkish Patent Institute continues the legislation studies as carried out in the previous periods and has prepared the Draft Law for Amending the Decree Laws and has sent it to the Ministry of Industry and Technology for negotiations. The said draft has been submitted for opinions of the related institutions and organizations and a workshop meeting has been held where the opinions and suggestion of particularly the academics and practitioners can be shared. The workshop meetings will be held on 27-28 January 2012 and the schedule is being prepared by rendering a half day for each of design and trademark legislations on January 27th and by rendering a whole day for patent regulations on January 28th. Mrs. Muhlise Aydın and Mrs. Berrin Kalenderli from Deriş Patents and Trademarks Agency has participated in the meeting.

As known, many significant amendments have been made in the US Patent Law in September 2011. These amendments will come into force in stages. In order to discuss the nature of these amendments, how the new provisions will affect the patent applications in the USA and the nature of the following implementations, PEM will hold a seminar on 24 January 2012 Tuesday. The seminar will be given by Gökalp BAYRAMOĞLU as the US Patent and Trademark Attorney. Mrs. Nazlı Korkut will participate in the seminar on behalf of Deriş Patents and Trademarks Agency.
